Join us Sundays at 10:30 a.m.
June 6
This summer, students in Sunday School will be looking at how God uses the elements of nature to help His people. Today in Sunday School students study how “God Leads in Cloud and Fire” (Exodus 13:17–14:31). Share how God led His people out of Egypt and throughout their journey in the wilderness. Parents might ask, “How does God show us what He wants us to do? What can we learn about God from the way He led the children of Israel?”
June 13
In Sunday School today, students study “God Divides the Jordan River” (Joshua 3–4). Share how God miraculously brought His people into the Promised Land. Parents might ask, “How did God safely lead His people into their new homeland? What kinds of barriers does God remove from our lives?”
June 20
Today Sunday School students study “God Controls the Sun and the Moon” (Joshua 10:1–15). Help students understand that God extended the daylight so Joshua and the children of Israel could gain complete victory over their enemy. Parents could ask, “Why was it important for the people to gain complete victory? How does God give us the victory over our enemies: sin, death, and the devil?”
June 27
In Sunday School today, students study “God Answers Gideon’s Prayer with Dew” (Judges 6:36–40). Share with our Sunday School students how God used Gideon to fight for His people. Parents might ask, “How did God reassure Gideon of His care for him? How does God reassure us about His care for us?”
July 4
Students in Sunday School study “God Rains Fire” (1 Kings 18) today. Share how God used these events to demonstrate His might and power. Parents could ask, “How does God demonstrate His power over these false prophets? How does God show us His power today?”
July 11
Today our Sunday School students study“God Carries Elijah to Heaven in a Whirlwind” (2 Kings 2:1–14). Discuss how God prepared Elijah’s successor, Elisha, for the tasks that lay ahead. Parents might ask, “What gift did Elisha ask God for? How does God prepare us for the tasks He wants us to do?”
July 18
“God Heals in the Jordan’s Waters” (2 Kings 5:1–14) is the lesson for our Sunday School students today. Students learned about how God healed a military leader from a foreign country. A topic to discuss might focus on humility and expectations of God. Parents might ask, “What do we learn about God from this account? How does God provide cleansing and eternal healing for us?”
July 25
Today in Sunday School, students explore 2 Kings 20:1–11 and Isaiah 38:1–8 as they study how “God Reverses the Sun’s Shadow.” Students learn about King Hezekiah and God’s miraculous answer to Hezekiah’s prayers. A family-talk topic might discuss times when prayers have been answered. A review question might be “What sign did God give that He would answer Hezekiah’s prayer? What signs do we have that Jesus’ forgiveness is certain?”
Aug. 1
As they continue their studies of how God used the elements of nature to help His people, students in Sunday School today explore “Jesus Calms a Storm” (Luke 8:22– 25). Students learn how Jesus showed His care for His disciples. Discuss the wonderful ways God cares for us also. Parents might ask, “How did Jesus show His care and concern for His disciples? How does God show His care for us as His children?”
Aug. 8
“Jesus Heals with Mud” (John 9:1–7) serves as the basis for our Sunday School lesson this week. Have students note how this miracle is different from many others mentioned in Scripture. Parents could discuss, “How has God healed each one of us? What does God use to bring about that healing?”
Aug. 15
Today students in Sunday School study “God Opens the Earth” (Matthew 27:45–55, 62–66; 28:1–15). A family faith conversation might discuss ways God does the impossible. Parents could ask, “What does it mean that Jesus rose from the dead? What can we learn from this account about our own resurrection on the last day?”
Aug. 22
Today’s Sunday School lesson explores how “God Rescues through an Earthquake” Acts 16:20–34. This account shares Paul’s miraculous escape from prison, leading to the salvation of the jailer and his whole family. Parents might ask, “What frightening things make us value God’s love and care? What did the power of Baptism do for this whole family?”
Aug. 29
On this final Sunday of the summer quarter, students in Sunday School study “God Preserves in a Storm” (Acts 27:13–44). Discuss some of Paul’s adventures and how he was protected by God. Parents might ask, “What might the sailors have thought or felt when the storm was brewing? What did God show the soldiers about Himself?”
