You are encouraged here to explore your own gifts and talents and put them to use in service to the Lord and others. A wide variety of opportunities are available depending on the time, talent and gifts you have been blessed with.

Romans 12:4-6 “Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are all parts of his one body, and each of us has different work to do. And since we are all one body in Christ, we belong to each other, and each of us needs all the others.” (NLT) "(God says) I was hungry and you fed me, ... thirsty and you gave me a drink... needed clothes and you clothed me... sick and you cared for me... in prison and you visited me... Whenever you have done this to the least person, you did it to me." Matt. 25:35-36, 40

WHY I SERVE...

I am currently serving my second term as Financial Secretary for VLC, but I also assist in these other areas within the church including, Men’s Braille; greeter; usher; property (inside and out), as well as a host of other activities including shoveling snow within our community. I have come to realize that I serve at our church because that is what God wants all of us to do with our lives. Help others in any and every way we can by using the talents God has given each of us.
Through my service, I have found that no matter how much I give of myself, God manages to give me greater gifts than I have given to those whom I serve. One of the blessings I receive through serving is the joy of seeing my children gladly serve as well. The pride and joy one feels, as a parent from seeing their children experiencing God’s gifts through service is indescribable. Another blessing I receive from serving has to do with those people I serve, my family at Valley Lutheran Church. Through my service, I have gotten to know many of my brothers and sisters much better and now appreciate what a tremendous family I have. I no longer loathe the sinner I am because I now see more clearly the gifts God gives me daily and realize there is nothing I can refuse Him. We are here to do His work and through Him, all things are possible.
I hope that in the future I can persuade others to become more involved in our church so that they too can experience first hand the joys that await you from serving our Lord.

 Your brother in Christ,
Scott Pretzlav
