Communion

When is communion offered/ May I commune in this church?

When is communion offered/ May I commune in this church?

Communion is offered at the following services:

The first and third Sundays of the month at 9 a.m.

The second and fourth Sundays of the month at 10:30 a.m.

Periodically throughout the year for other Holy Services ie, Christmas, Maunday Thursday, Easter Sunday, and Thanksgiving Eve services.

Lutherans take our Lord’s words, “This is my body” to mean what they say. We believe that with the bread Christ adds His body and with the wine Christ adds His blood. We do not teach that one can find a visible part of Christ’s body within the bread, or a visible drop of His blood within the wine. We speak of “true presence” as sacramental, spiritual and real-but a mystery. We also believe that in this Supper Jesus forgives our sins through faith just as He says in Matt. 26:28. Visitors who have questions concerning these beliefs should discuss their questions with the Pastor before communing.

Membership

Is it expected that I ultimately join the church, or can I simply attend?

A.	No, you are not required to become a member. We hope you will want to become a member and will be happy to speak to you about what membership would mean to you if you are interested.

Sunday School

I have young children spanning ages from 18 months to 5th grade. Do you have Sunday School or childcare available.

Q.	I have young children spanning ages from 18 months to 5th grade. Do you have Sunday School or childcare available.
A.	Childcare and Children's Sunday School are offered Sundays at 10:30 a.m. The Little Lambs Nursery cares for children up to age 2. Children 2 through 5th grade attend church briefly with their parents and are dismissed prior to the sermon to attend Sunday School Classes.

Tithes

Do you require that I give financially to the church?

Q.	Do you require that I give financially to the church?
A.	No, there is no requirement to give. We consider it a priviledge to honor God by our giving. We hope that out of gratitude to God you will want to give in many ways, to support God’s work not only in the church, but throughout the world.

A.	First, call the church office to check the Pastor's schedule and the church's availability.

Worship Styles

How would you describe your worship service?

Q.	How would you describe your worship service?
A.	Worship at Valley Lutheran is fairly traditional . Our 9 a.m. service on Sunday is traditional and liturgical. We sing hymns and follow a fairly predictable order of service. Our 10:30 a.m. service on Sundays features more contemporary music and less liturgy.
